Find the Hotel
Driving. That’s how you get there. The Burge Hotel sits in Holyoke, a tiny farm town planted out on the extreme northeastern plains of Colorado right along U.S. Highway 6 — not far from where it meets up with U.S. Highway 385. It’s the kind of place you dip into if you’re cruising backroads and want to experience the real American prairie land. Finding the place is no trouble at all since it pops up right in downtown, and yes, they give away free front-door parking which happens to be critical and handy for every single guest.
For those who come by plane, choices are few and need a long trip. The closest big airport is Denver International Airport (DEN), about three hours driving to the southwest. Getting a car at the airport is a must for this trip. The ride from Denver takes you out of the city and into the wide, open views of the Colorado High Plains which is an interesting sight on its own.
No bus, no train, nothing of the sort comes in a practical connection to Holyoke from any major city. This truly is a destination at the end of the secondary highways crisscrossing this country by vehicle. A car—personal or rental—is not just recommended; it is absolutely the only viable way to travel to Burge Hotel and this very region.
